Nirmal Premier League Women’s Cricket Tournament: Wild Cats Clinch Title in Thrilling Finale

Mulund West, Mumbai – The Nirmal Lifestyle Residency Housing Society in Mulund West hosted its annual Nirmal Premier League (NPL) Women’s Cricket Tournament this past weekend, a much-anticipated event that has become a yearly ritual for the community. The tournament saw spirited participation from three teams: Wild Cats, Thunder Bolts, and Hit n Run. The matches were held at the Offshorts Turf, In Mulund with each game comprising five overs per side.

The Wild Cats, captained by Arvi Gujral, emerged victorious for the third consecutive year, solidifying their dominance in the league. They faced the Thunder Bolts, led by Roshani Singh, in a thrilling final match. The Thunder Bolts displayed commendable bowling skills, restricting the Wild Cats to a mere 26 runs. However, the Wild Cats’ defense was equally formidable, led by a sensational performance from their star bowler, Dipali.

Dipali’s first over proved to be the turning point of the match. She took four crucial wickets, conceding only one run, effectively dismantling the Thunder Bolts’ batting lineup.

Arvi Gujral not only captained the winning team but also shone as the tournament’s best batsman and was named Player of the Series alongside Mariska from Hit n Run. Mariska’s all-round performance throughout the tournament earned her the joint Player of the Series accolade, while Disha from Thunder Bolt won the Best Bowler of the Tournament, highlighting the high level of talent and competition present in the league.

The tournament was well-organized, reflecting the dedication and meticulous planning of the Nirmal Lifestyle Housing Society. Each team showcased excellent sportsmanship and leadership, particularly the captains Arvi Gujral, Roshani Singh, and Kanan Modi, who led Hit n Run.

A special moment during the awards ceremony was the recognition of Mrs. Pragnya Bhavad for her hard work and dedication to the game. As one of the senior players, Mrs. Bhavad’s contribution to her team and the sport was celebrated with a special award from the tournament committee.

The Wild Cats’ roster, including Dipali, Masma, Bhavika, Shilpa, Shreya, Dhruvi, Pari, Krisha, Aarti and Arvi (C) celebrated their victory with much enthusiasm and joy. Their triumph in this fiercely contested tournament highlighted their skill and teamwork.

The NPL Women’s Cricket Tournament has once again brought the community together, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition. The success of this event bodes well for the future of women’s cricket in the society, inspiring many young girls to take up the sport. We also saw the youngest player Aditi who won the best Debutant player of the tournament.
